4 Tips For Balancing Summer Class and Summer Fun

Summer might be the perfect time to hit the beach and tan, but for many students, it’s also the perfect time to squeeze in a few extra credits. There’s no reason you can’t enjoy the warm weather while you’re working hard in class. Here are some tips to make sure that your work-life balance this season is perfect for a happy summer.

1. Make a schedule

It’s easy to make plans once you figure out your schedule. Take the time to make a Google calendar with all your school-related events, especially if your class gives you an outline for  the summer semester. Once you have everything laid out, you’ll be able to make heads or tails of your busy days, your free days, and those days where you might be able to squeeze a surprise visit to the pool with your bestie.

2. Work ahead

Schedule looking a bit hectic? It depends on the class, but if you have the ability to work ahead, do it! When you clear out projects, homework, or essays early, that’s more time you can be outside and soak up the sun. It’s a commitment (managing future work while doing  present work is hard) so if you go this route, try starting from the beginning of the class, before the workload increases. If you need a new planner, Amazon has every style, color and layout you could want.

3. Outdoor/traveling zoom session

One of the underrated “benefits” of Zoom classes is being able to take courses from anywhere with a stable internet connection. You don’t need to be stuck at home - you’re free to head to your local park, the zoo, or even travel to new cities - provided it’s safe to do so. Make your next class more exciting and go somewhere new, whether that be a long-term Airbnb or finding a StudentUniverse flight deal to a new destination. Need cash to cover it? Kora will spot you now and you can pay back over time

4. De-stress to do your best

Finally, keep your mental health in mind. Although passing your courses are important, you’re so much more than letters on a transcript. Whether you meditate, take days for yourself, socialize, or binge Netflix for your relaxation, make sure you have a solid mental massage plan in your daily routine

With these tips, you should be on your way to having a fantastic summer. Ace those classes, chill with your friends, and most of all, enjoy the season - we only get this chance once a year. Happy summer!
